Armstrong Motor Group Festival of Cycling

The Armstrong Motor Group Festival of Cycling is run over two days on the 4th & 5th December 2010. The festival is a true cycling celebration from a 5km Kids Mini Bays, to a scenic 80km Harbour Ride, a 35km Mountain Bike race, to a City Criterium staged within the Central Oxford Terrace; this is a weekend for cycling fans of all ages, abilities and aspirations. Saturday 4th December Armstrong Motor Group Harbour Ride & Avanti Long Bays Classic bring together cycling enthusiasts of all ages and abilities for a challenging but achievable 80km ride of Christchurch’s iconic Port Hills and Lyttelton Harbour. Since its inception in 2005 it has become a significant event, attracting competitors from around New Zealand. Following the success from 2009 is the exciting 35km Mountain Bike section for recreational and elite riders - An enjoyable but challenging ride through some of Canterbury’s most popular MTB single tracks. We can’t forget the kids with the Benchmark Homes Kids Mini Bays; it’s a fun ride around the Sumner Causeway and back around McCormacks Bay, finishing within the same finish that the pros ride. Suitable for kids ages 8 -14years. Sunday 5th December The City Criterium is set on the exciting 1km closed circuit around Christchurch’s Oxford terrace café Strip, perfect to sit down for a coffee or Sunday brunch and watch the cyclist’s whiz by. Racing is for all abilities, including New Zealand’s elite racing for some converted trophies. Festival of Cycling is back in 2010 by the entire Armstrong Motor Group and its down for December 4+5. Whether you're an Olympic contender, fitness fanatic, weekend warrior or a newcomer to two wheels, there will be something for you.
